October is the month that decorates for a party three weeks in advance. Halloween lands on the 31st and takes the whole month as its runway. Indigenous Peoples' Day replaces Columbus Day in most of the country on the second Monday, the leaves turn in the northern half of the US, and pumpkin spice gets run into the ground as a concept. It's also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so the pink ribbons show up right alongside the jack-o'-lanterns.
