How Cancer works, earns, leads, and where the wheels come off.

§1

Cancer Work Style

Cancer thrive in jobs that reward emotional intelligence and a long memory. Therapists, teachers, nurses, hospice workers, social workers, pediatricians, chefs, hospitality leads, HR people, and any role that requires holding space for someone else's hard day. They are also surprisingly good in real estate, because the home is sacred to them and they can read what a buyer actually wants.

§2

Ideal Work Environment for Cancer

They can struggle in cold, transactional environments where feelings are treated as inefficiency. A Cancer in a brutal sales-floor culture will be miserable inside six months, even if they're hitting their numbers. The work itself isn't the problem.

§3

Cancer on the Job

Cancer as a boss

  • Tenacious under pressure
  • Highly imaginative under pressure
  • Loyal under pressure
  • Emotional under pressure

Career pitfalls to watch

  • Watch for moody when deadlines pile up
  • Watch for pessimistic when deadlines pile up
  • Watch for suspicious when deadlines pile up

§4

Cancer and Money

They will spend on the house, on family, on the pantry, on the kids' education, and they will save aggressively for the year things might get tight. A Cancer who has built up real savings is a Cancer who sleeps soundly. Without that cushion, they worry.
